Field Day 2012

Dear Parents,

The Deutsche Sprachschule Schulfest (Field Day) is Sat., April 28th, 2012. Your children will go outside and play games that the teachers have organized. Classes will assemble in the auditorium at 10:55 am.  We will start the activities by singing the Schullied and announcing the Schreibwettbewerb winners.  Students will receive an index card that they will use to collect stickers from the various game stations.  At the end of the day, these stickers can be redeemed for small prizes.  Pizza and water will be provided to students at no cost.  Non-students can purchase pizza and water for $3.00.

Here’s the line-up of games we have so far.  We hope your children will have fun!

Frau Mersich (L-K) – Eierlaufen, Wochentage, und Zahlen hüpfen
Frau Rauschenbach (L-1Aa) – Springseile und Gummitwist
Frau Wiseman (L-1Ab) –  ’Montagsmaler’
Frau Schmidt (L-2) – Twister
Frau Pomaski (L-2A) – Werfspiel
Dr. Roehrs (L-3) – Book balancing race
Frau Whealan (L-3A) – Wer ist staerker?
Frau Zirngibl (L-4A) – Schwammwettlauf and paper flower making
Frau Friedlander (L-5A) – face painting, paper flower making, and Wilhelm Tell

There is still a need for volunteers to help set-up and supervise the games, food, and prizes.  We need volunteers to help make our student’s experience fun! You will also get ‘credit’ for volunteering.  This is especially important if you have missed helping out at previous special events.  Please let Angelica Merk-Serrano at angelicamerk@verizon.net know that you can volunteer.

Please note that class start and dismissal times are the same as always.

Thank you,

The School Board

Fasching 2011

Dear Parents,

It’s that time of year again: our lovely Fasching celebration (the German version of Mardi Gras) will take place this coming Saturday, Feb 10th in the gymnasium. Please drop off and pick up your children at the regular time in their usual classrooms. Children are encouraged to wear costumes.

10:40 am:  The children’s parade for the Krabbelgruppe and Spielgruppe will start.

11:10 am:  The children’s parade for the remaining classes will start.

After the parades, the children will be able to snack on donuts with juice and will then return to their respective classes.

All parents and adult students are encouraged to join us for the parades.

We are also still looking for three volunteers to help us with gym decoration, snack set-up, and clean-up. If you can help out, please call Jutta Gassner-Snyder at (973) 978-2357 or email me at jutta@priorityhealth.us

Sincerely,

Jutta GS
