Dear Parents,

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you and your child to the Deutsche Sprachschule for the 2008 – 2009 academic year. I would like to extend a special welcome to those who are new to our community. Hopefully, you have had an enjoyable und relaxing summer.

The beginning of the school year is just around the corner. Our first day of school is September 6, 2008.  Parents of children are invited to register starting at 8:30 am in the teacher’s lounge. The registration form is available here. In order to speed up the registration process, please have a completed form ready. Please bring your child’s schoolbooks from the previous year, their writing materials, and a snack. Parents will have the opportunity to meet with the principal of our school, Dr. Heidi Roehrs and the school board chair, Ilse Maier.

We have a very busy year ahead of us and our teaching staff is hard at work preparing for the coming challenges. However, we need your assistance! You and your child’s teacher must become partners in the learning process. You can help by ensuring that your child is completing all their homework and studies for tests and quizzes. Apart from this, it is essential for all parents to get involved in the school community. Children are most successful when their parents play an active role in their education. By volunteering at school events, you can demonstrate your support and encouragement for your child. With your help, I know that we will have a great year!

Dear Student and Parents,

If you are new to the Deutsche Sprachschule, welcome! If you are an existing member of the Sprachschule family we are delighted in your continued support and trust.

To register your child or yourself for the upcoming 2008-2009 school year, please complete the registration form available here.

The family membership fee of $100.00 is due no later than May 31, 2008. A preferred tuition discount of 3% for the first child will be credited in September to families that turn in their registration forms with this fee by the above date. After May 31, the regular tuition fee will be in effect.

Beginning now and for a limited time, if you refer a new family who enrolls at DSS Union, your account will be credited $50.00, provided that they remain enrolled for 6 months. Please ensure that the family cites you as their referral. Only one credit per family is deductible.

Dear Parents,

On April 26th, 2008 the Deutsche Sprachschule will be having our annual Schulfest. This field day event is a springtime tradition at our school that allows our students to enjoy the beautiful weather with a variety of outdoor activities. During these activities, the students will employ the speaking and listening skills they have acquired in the classroom in a fun way. To prepare for this event, we request that any parents who are willing to volunteer their time please contact Nicole Damm at nicolepeaks@lycos.com. We are also in dire need of your donations to help cover the cost of this event. Please drop your contribution in the basket in the main lobby. Remember, the Schulfest is a collaborative event, and can only be a success with your help.
